Robert Strack grew up in Midland, Texas after his father, Dr. Dean Strack, moved his family there in 1960 from Dallas, Texas to open his orthodontics practice. Robert’s favorite sport was baseball and he played for the Midland High Bulldogs where he was a starting pitcher. Robert graduated from Midland High in 1978 and went on to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Robert then pursued a career as a landman and went to the Smoky Mountains to lease for Chevron. After leasing in multiple locations around the US and Texas Robert moved back to Midland to stay. Robert and several partners put together multiple lease packages over the next few years until the bust of 1986 hit Midland hard. Robert Strack founded Mayflower Exploration in 2006 to acquire mineral rights in the Permian Basin to offer fair prices, fair terms and a quick closing. Since then, Mayflower has acquired mineral rights under more than 88,000 acres and spent more than $56,000,000.
